The highly anticipated fifth season of MTV Shuga Naija, created by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, began Thursday night at a special event in Lagos. An exclusive viewing of the new season came after a press briefing discussing the show's themes.

Numerous young people and well over 80 percent of women are involved in the production in some capacity. By supporting female artists, we hope to foster an industry that is more representative of Nigerian culture and society as a whole. According to Anita Adesiyan.

The protagonists in Season 5 of MTV's Shuga Naija deal with romantic relationships, misogyny, heartbreak, and sex. Drama also tackles tough topics like HIV/AIDS, sexism in the workplace, and COVID-19. The collaboration with Chocolate City on the soundtrack gave this season's narratives a much-needed boost.

Cast members from previous seasons return, including Gbubemi Ejeye (Moh), Genoveva Umeh (Chika), Susan Pwajok (Nanya), Maggie Osuome (Haalel), Kanaga JNR (Kachi), Lexan Peters (Praise), Ilooise Omohinmin (Saz), Kem Ajieh (Tolu), and Chioma Edak (Janet).
Tomiwa Tegbe (Wasiu), Sharon Jatto (Simi), and Adesua Etomi-Wellington (Sheila), among others, return as series regulars in this season of MTV's Shuga Naija.
